As per the latest Gartner India report, Acer has overtaken HP to become the market leader in the desktop category, for Q1 2010. Acer sold approximately 1,58,000 desktops (commercial and consumer) in Q1 2010.

Acer’s desktops cater to numerous segments ranging from education to large public sector & govt. organizations. The brand has the form factors on its products (Like the ultra small form factor desktop, which is just 3 Ltrs in size where most competition is present mostly with 10 & 30 Ltr boxes).

“The requirement for Desktops is still strong in verticals like education and government sectors as well as in smaller towns and cities when it comes to consumer sales. With the increase in PC penetration in the smaller towns, desktop sales will continue to be strong. We are focused on capitalizing on this opportunity and have introduced new products, from time to time, focusing on various sub segments to effectively tap into this market.” said S.
