Connect Facebook from Outlook

14 July 2010 10:24 am , Geetaj Channana

New Outlook Social Connector plug-ins launched

Microsoft recently announced additions to its Social Connector plug-in on Outlook 2010/2007/2003. The additions now include Facebook and Windows Live and Facebook to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook.
According to the Microsoft download site, “The Microsoft Outlook Social Connector Provider for Facebook allows you to connect your Facebook account to the Outlook Social Connector and obtain information about your friends and colleagues. You can see status updates and recently posted items from your Facebook contacts.”
Before these two additions the plugin supported LinkedIn and Myspace. The only obvious omission here is Twitter which is still supported by third party connectors like Twitter Outlook Social Connector or TOSC.
The Windows Live Social Connector is similar. It allows you to connect the Windows Live ID with Outlook.
