Rolling Out a Data Leakage Prevention Program
Case Study of a Leading Financial Services Conglomerate from India
Game theory and you
Those of you, who have read Bruce Temkin’s Disruptive Customer Experience Strategies will know what I am talking about – it works, believe me.
There are five strategies that the VP and Principal Analyst of Forrester talks about in the research, and it forms the foundation of how to disrupt one’s industry.
One of the first things that CIOs can take lead in their organisations’ business strategies is to suggest simplistic approach to their product offerings. Ultra-simplicity and attending to the unmet needs of the customer is what business is all about; it’s about building a better connect with the buyer.
If you remember the story of Jetblue, this is what they did; they stripped of all the ‘frill’ features and gave the consumer exactly what they wanted – a low cost airline. They took off, leaving behind the rest to survive the cut-throat airline industry.
Besides keeping things simpler and meeting the exact needs of the consumer, you will have to infuse them with extraordinary promise of service and support. Service offering blended with product offering gives the new-age consumer better comfort with the solution. Apple’s iPod is a classic example of such a strategy – a lot of music players have been launched on the same lines, but iPod still holds the numero uno position. Amplification of service levels even during cost pressures will only improve your competitive edge.
Technology plays the enabler in the roll out of these strategies. CIOs today lack the conviction to put their finger on the strategy and support it with the right technology solution. This is clearly substantiated by the fact that adoption of social networking and online tools is so low in India.
CIOs hold the power to making game-changing strategies for their organisations. And to do this they will have to broaden their views on adoption of disruptive strategies and thus keep IT transformational.
As we get ready for the 10th Annual CTO Forum conference at Beijing this month, these are the thoughts and discussions of our speakers and panelists, leading CIOs, industry thought-leaders and international delegates. The agenda is flooded with thought-provoking strategies and technology discussion on disruptive strategies and technologies, ways and means to keep technology transformational and the larger role of the CIO as a global corporate leader.
This issue’s lead story talks about the millennial customer and how Indian organisations are changing their core strategies to meet the dynamically changing demands of this new breed of consumer.
