Google has announced its acquisition of Slide, a social technology company with an extensive history of building new ways for people to connect with others across numerous platforms online.
According to both, the official Google blog and the Slide website, there isn’t any detailed product plans to share right now.
Google says it is thrilled to welcome Max Levchin and his team to Google, to work together to give people more and better tools to communicate and connect.
Slide has already created compelling social experiences for tens of millions of people across many platforms such as Face Book applications like Superpoke and TopFriends, and with Google already having built strong social elements into products like Gmail, Docs, Blogger, Picasa and YouTube, this partnership could herald a new era for Google.
As the Slide team joins Google, the Internet Search giant aims to be investing even more to make Google services socially aware and expand these capabilities for its users across the web.
