HP and Sify Technologies jointly announced an agreement to power Sify’s On-Demand cloud services using HP’s Converged Infrastructure. This will allow Sify to provide demand based computing services on a pay per use or flexible contract model.
Using HP’s Converged Infrastructure, Sify is launching cloud services including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for select applications under its On-Demand Hosting Platform. To enable this, the Blade System Matrix a product of HP’s converged infrastructure, pools together Sify’s IT resource into a highly automated and virtualized resource pool.
P J Nath, Executive President, Enterprise Business, Sify mentioned that the CIO’s biggest challenge is to bring down the Capex and Opex. CIO spends around 70% of the money in managing and maintaining the datacenters (DC).
He added, “Our cloud offerings provide elasticity, flexibility, security and high availability. The CIO has to just define his requirement online like what kind of server, storage and network etc he wants and depending on the availability; the services can be delivered in less than six hours and the CIO have to pay as per the usage. Traditionally it would take around 6-45 days to avail to these services and the CIOs have to buy the solutions which would cost them much more.”
Sify presently has four DC and by the end of this year they will have the fifth DC in Noida. The HP’s Converged Infrastructure is setup in Sify’s two DC- Mumbai and Bangalore (the Bangalore will work as a DR site) and it is accessible over public and private network.
