Nokia India workers strike
The workers at the Nokia India Chennai plant went on strike on Tuesday, as reported by Business Standard. The facility employs more than 8,000 workers in its plant.
According to reports the workers went on strike after the talks with the management on pay hike failed. The company on the other hand said that the salaries being offered to its workers was amongst the best in the industry being offered in that area.
Nokia manufactures mobile phones from this plant that are consumed in the local market as well as exported across the world. According to reports Nokia would use factories in locations outside India to fulfill the shortfall in production from the Chennai plant. Nokia has manufactured close to 350 million handsets from this plant over its four years of operations.
