Twitter Becomes More Business Friendly

To allow organisations to manage multiple contributors to their account

Twitter is planning to add buiness specific features. This was announced through a blog on the website. Twitter has emerged as a platform for businesses to connect with their customers, and it seems that it is gearing to cash in on this trend.

The first of its business features to be tested will be called 'Contributors' – it enables users to engage in more authentic conversations with businesses by allowing those organizations to manage multiple contributors to their account. The feature appends the contributor's username to the tweet byline, making the business to consumer communication more personal.

The example they gave on the blog is as follows- if @Twitter invites @Biz to tweet on its behalf, then a tweet from @Twitter would include @Biz in the byline so that users know more about the real people behind organizations.

What they hope for is a better connect with the organizations as users will now know who is behind the tweet. As expected this feature will be part of the API, allowing for better integration with other services.

This is not the only business centric feature that Twitter has planned. They claim to have many features in development some of which will be visible to end users and other possibly only to the business users themselves. The new feature will go through a limited beta test, till they it is ready for offering to all their business users.
