Websense Defensio 2.0 Application for Secure Facebook Access

02 February 2010 00:00 am , CTOF Team

Web and security solutions provider Websense has launched the new Defensio 2.0 application to offer security to Facebook users. This application analyzes and classifies user-generated content on Facebook to prevent the posting of malicious and inappropriate content. Defensio 2.0 has been developed with Facebook to avoid users of the social networking website from encountering malicious links, inappropriate content, viruses or spam. The application claims to provide security to corporate and individual Facebook page owners.

“Other Web security technologies that try to address uncategorized Web 2.0 content using only virus signatures, URL reputation or categorization are fundamentally flawed and limited,” said Websense chief technology officer Dan Hubbard. “With the combination of the security intelligence captured by Defensio and the real-time content analysis of Websense Web Security Gateway, users benefit from having early threat detection sensors within the very fabric of the dynamic Web and the ability to proactively identify and protect from new malware, emerging exploits or potentially unwanted applications before they become a problem.”
